Administration of Local Anesthesia
Advance your dental assisting skills with this Minnesota Board of Dentistry-approved continuing education program. This 8-week hybrid course provides licensed dental assistants with the knowledge and hands-on experience to safely and effectively administer local anesthesia.
Course Overview
Designed for working professionals, this 45-hour course includes asynchronous online lectures and two required in-person clinical sessions at 海角视频’s Brooklyn Park campus.
Partifipants will learn:
- Head and neck anatomy relevant to local anesthesia
- Anesthetic selection, pharmacology, and contraindications
- Patient assessment and risk factors
- Injection types, techniques, and dosages
- Managing complications and medical emergencies
- Infection control and safe disposal practices
Prerequisites
Participants must meet the following requirements to register:
- Current licensure as a Dental Assistant in Minnesota
- Minimum one year of general chairside experience
- Current BLS CPR certification

Upon successful completion of this course, licensed dental assistants must follow the Minnesota Board of Dentistry's application guidelines before administering local anesthesia in practice.
