Administration of Local Anesthesia


Advance your dental assisting skills with this Minnesota Board of Dentistry-approved continuing education program. This 8-week hybrid course provides licensed dental assistants with the knowledge and hands-on experience to safely and effectively administer local anesthesia.

Course Overview

Designed for working professionals, this 45-hour course includes asynchronous online lectures and two required in-person clinical sessions at 海角视频’s Brooklyn Park campus.

Partifipants will learn:

  • Head and neck anatomy relevant to local anesthesia
  • Anesthetic selection, pharmacology, and contraindications
  • Patient assessment and risk factors
  • Injection types, techniques, and dosages
  • Managing complications and medical emergencies
  • Infection control and safe disposal practices

Prerequisites

Participants must meet the following requirements to register:

  • Current licensure as a Dental Assistant in Minnesota
  • Minimum one year of general chairside experience
  • Current BLS CPR certification

Minnesota Board of Dentistry Requirements

Upon successful completion of this course, licensed dental assistants must follow the Minnesota Board of Dentistry's application guidelines before administering local anesthesia in practice.
